Rubix Literary Magazine #14 - Coming of Age: Hopes and Challenges
$ 18.00
Rubix is a creative safe space where young writers come together to learn and put their literary and creative writing skills into practice. Here, students are exposed to a variety of works that touch on the good, the bad, and the ugly of the world they are inheriting. Run by 826 Boston, Rubix is an after-school club at the John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science, where students collaborate and share ideas with the goal of publishing a literary magazine at the end of the school year. Every year brings a new theme, and a new way for writers and creatives to express themselves and share their work. The theme of this year's Rubix Literary Magazine is “Coming of Age: Hopes and Challenges.” With this, O’Bryant writers were given the opportunity to write and show both the hardships and good memories of growing up. Submissions included varying relationships between the creators and their families, friends, and significant others, all represented through written poems, artwork, and more. Whether or not a member is an experienced writer, in Rubix they can share and ask for feedback without fear of judgment. The students of Rubix form a close community as they grow closer through writing and art, realizing that they are not alone in their feelings and that their dreams are shared. Rubix allows us to explore new ideas and understand ourselves and the world around us more. An open shared space is fundamental in developing a community in which students can cultivate, express, and share their dreams fearlessly: Rubix allows students to do exactly that.
